The Lakes, The Classic Collection Circa 2000 - 2005

Blea Tarn //1 (Great Langdale)

I’ve been enjoying exploring different parts of the Lake District since early 2000’s,
back when we still got our photos developed!

The following selection is therefore random highlights of some of the old classic photos I still managed to hold onto, somehow!

Tree Light

Blea Tarn //2 (Borrowdale Area)

The first time I ever did a wild camp probably! All I can remember from this apart from a nice still night, was getting swamped by bog and then even worse so by a swarm of unrelenting midgies! (Always take some repellant!). Nevertheless it was a beautiful, tranquil tarn :)

Misty Tarn (not quite sure if this was Blea tarn, Borrowdale)

This photo looks to have a bit of a blur to it, but in a way I think it all adds to the feel of the photo giving it a nice atmosphere and grain.

Langdale Waters

On a lovely sunny day the langdale waters, that stretch far and wide, look very inviting and although quite cold it’s hard to resist a cool dip and swim..

Forest near Stanley force

In the Eskdale area, this forest area before reaching the waterfall makes a cool little walk with some interesting surrounding plant life.

Misty Haze
At the time when I didn’t have easy access to the Lakes, and used public transport in various methods and means, on the way back from one Lakes trip, on the final hurdle I used the traditional Esk Valley Rail line to Ravensglass. This photo is of somewhere around that area nearby a military base.

Blea Tarn //3 (Great langdale)

Mist in the morning over the tarn, around sunrise time...
Camped here for a day. A nice quiet, tranquil spot.
A kind of mellow, warm ambient night, which asks for a nice chilled out soundtrack to accompany the place.
I think at the time it was The Verve’s No Come Down and first album that did the trick, provided the music highlights, as well as some choice down-tempo beats…

Rydal Cave

Although the photo is quite dark, inside the cave the rocks inside are quite colourful.. The cave is actually not that far from Grassmere lake, is quite easily accessible and has great acoustics.
